Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a distinguished Lead Geotechnical Engineer to spearhead operations in Cape Town, Western Cape. This senior role oversees geotechnical aspects across diverse developments along the coast, leading a team of professionals to ensure safe foundations and earth structures.

You will provide expert guidance on soil mechanics, foundation design, and regulatory compliance, while mentoring staff and engaging with clients.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive geotechnical experience.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA is essential.
• Experience with geotechnical software PLAXIS or GEO5.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert geotechnical services for planning, design, and construction.
• Lead and mentor a team of geotechnical engineers and technicians.
• Conduct site investigations, soil sampling, lab testing, and in-situ tests.
• Perform geotechnical analyses for foundations, slopes, and earth retaining structures.
• Develop geotechnical reports, recommendations, and mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate with clients, regulators, contractors, and other consultants.
