• Experience leading geotechnical projects and teams.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
• Good communication and client interaction skills.
• Willingness to travel to Northern Cape sites.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent engineering consultancy firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Kimberley, Northern Cape . This role is integral to providing expert advice and solutions for a wide range of civil engineering and construction projects, focusing on soil mechanics, foundation design, and ground improvement. You will lead complex geotechnical investigations, interpret data, and develop innovative designs to ensure project stability and safety. This hybrid role allows for flexibility, combining essential site visits and collaborative office work with remote capabilities for analysis and reporting. Your expertise will be crucial in shaping the infrastructure development within the Northern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance, soil sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Perform advanced geotechnical analysis, including slope stability, settlement, and bearing capacity calculations.
• Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining structures, and earthworks for various construction projects.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical investigation reports, design recommendations, and technical specifications.
• Provide expert geotechnical advice to clients, project managers, and design teams.
• Oversee site supervision during construction phases related to earthworks and foundations.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Mentor junior geotechnical engineers and contribute to the team's technical development.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in geotechnical engineering practices and technologies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices in geotechnical design.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering consulting.
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as Plaxis, GeoStudio, WALLAP, or similar.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Experience in managing geotechnical projects and leading technical teams.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for client and team interaction.
• Willingness to travel to project sites within the Northern Cape for investigations and supervision.
