Senior Garment Technologist – Quality & Fit

Zusammenfassung

LEGiT seeks an experienced Garment Technologist to join the Quality Assurance team in South Africa. You will develop, grade, modify and maintain garment standards reflecting design intent, fit, and brand requirements.

Work closely with Buyers, CMTs, QA, Distribution Centre and Suppliers to ensure garments are production-ready and aligned with quality, fit and customer expectations throughout the product development lifecycle.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Garment Technologist in apparel retail, fashion, sourcing, or garment manufacturing.
• Experience with Ladieswear, Intimate apparel, footwear or accessories advantageous.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric performance, and quality standards.

Aufgaben

• Develop, maintain, and manage technical packs, garment specifications, measurement charts, and construction standards throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Review design briefs and product specifications to ensure garments are technically feasible, commercially viable, and aligned with brand requirements.
• Evaluate prototype, fit, pre-production and bulk production samples against approved specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct fit sessions and provide clear, detailed fit comments and corrective actions to suppliers to achieve the required fit and appearance.
• Assess garment construction, measurements, workmanship, fabric performance, and trim applications to ensure compliance with company standards.
• Collaborate closely with Buyers, Designers, Quality Assurance teams, and Suppliers throughout the product development and production process.
• Monitor sample submissions and supplier performance to ensure adherence to critical path timelines and on-time delivery.
• Identify fit, quality, and manufacturing issues and proactively recommend solutions to minimise risk and improve first-time approval rates.
• Ensure products comply with company quality requirements, regulatory standards, testing protocols, and product safety requirements.
• Review and approve measurement specifications, grading, and size consistency across product categories.
• Checking measurements, construction, seams, stitching, trims, finishes, fabric, colour, print, labelling, and packaging against approved specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of fit comments, technical specifications, sample approvals, quality concerns, and product revisions.
• Analyse recurring supplier, fit, and quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance and support to suppliers and internal stakeholders to improve product quality and consistency.
• Stay informed of industry best practices, garment construction techniques, fabric innovations, and quality assurance developments.
