Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Full Stack Developer for an e-commerce-focused role in Soweto. You will design, build, and optimize scalable online retail solutions for a rapidly expanding client base.

The ideal candidate has 6–8 years of full-stack experience, with expertise in modern front-end frameworks, Node.js, Python, PHP, Java, and prominent e-commerce platforms. Knowledge of AWS/Azure, Docker, and payments is a plus.

Qualifications

Our client, a rapidly expanding e-commerce innovator based in Soweto, Gauteng , is seeking a highly experienced Senior Full Stack Developer specializing in e-commerce platforms. This role is critical for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and high-performance online retail solutions. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of both front-end and back-end development, with a proven track record in building and optimizing e-commerce functionalities. Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement scalable full-stack e-commerce solutions using modern web technologies. Build and maintain robust back-end systems, APIs, and database structures for online retail platforms. Develop responsive and user-friendly front-end interfaces for web and mobile e-commerce sites. Integrate with third-party services, including payment gateways, shipping providers, and marketing tools. Optimize website performance, speed, and scalability for enhanced user experience and conversion rates. Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and maintainable code. Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to coding standards. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues related to the e-commerce platform. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define requirements and deliver features. Stay current with the latest e-commerce technologies, trends, and best practices. Contribute to architectural decisions and technology selection for future development.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Minimum of 6-8 years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on full-stack development in an e-commerce context. Expertise in front-end technologies such as React, Vue.js, Angular, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/TypeScript. Proficiency in back-end languages and frameworks such as Node.js, Python (Django/Flask), PHP (Laravel/Symfony), or Java. Strong experience with e-commerce platforms (e.g., Magento, Shopify Plus, custom builds). Solid experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB). Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker). Understanding of payment gateway integrations and security best practices. Experience with performance optimization techniques for high-traffic websites. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Experience working in an Agile development environment is essential. Knowledge of the South African e-commerce market is a plus.
