Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Formulation Scientist to lead innovative drug product development efforts in Upington . This pivotal role will focus on designing, developing, and optimizing novel drug delivery systems for a range of therapeutic compounds. You will collaborate closely with discovery teams, analytical groups, and manufacturing to ensure seamless transition from early-stage research to clinical trials. The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of formulation science, excipient compatibility, and dosage form design, with a strong track record of successfully bringing products to market. This position offers a unique blend of on-site strategic development and potential for remote data analysis and reporting, fostering a dynamic work approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop innovative formulations for various dosage forms (e.g., oral, injectable, topical).
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including physicochemical characterization of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
• Optimize formulations for stability, bioavailability, and manufacturability.
• Develop and validate analytical methods for formulation testing.
• Lead formulation development projects, managing timelines and resources effectively.
• Collaborate with regulatory affairs to prepare CMC sections for submissions.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Pharmaceutics , Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Extensive knowledge of drug delivery systems and dosage form design.
• Experience with analytical techniques relevant to formulation characterization (e.g., HPLC, dissolution testing).
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory guidelines.
• Strong project management and leadership skills.
