Job summary

Abbott in Roodepoort, South Africa, is seeking a highly analytical Senior Financial Analyst to join the Established Pharmaceuticals Division. You will lead budgeting, planning, forecasting, and reporting across the Africa Region, partnering with finance and commercial teams to deliver insights and drive performance.

Responsibilities include monthly close, variance analysis, capital expenditure planning, and ensuring audit readiness.

Qualifications

• BCom Accounting degree is required.
• 5+ years of experience in a Senior Financial Analyst or similar finance role.
• CIMA or CA(SA) qualification is advantageous.

We are looking for a highly analytical and commercially minded Senior Financial Analyst to join our Established Pharmaceuticals Division. This role plays a key part in financial planning, forecasting, reporting, business partnering, and driving financial performance across the Africa Region. You will collaborate closely with finance and commercial teams to deliver actionable insights, ensure compliance, and support strategic business decisions.

What You’ll Work On

• Lead and support budgeting, planning, forecasting, and reporting activities across the Africa Region.
• Coordinate LBE and annual planning processes, including data collection and system uploads.
• Prepare monthly financial close reports and performance analyses.
• Maintain P&L, exchange variance, expense planning, and standard cost models.
• Drive margin improvement initiatives and provide commercial analytics support.
• Prepare and monitor capital expenditure budgets.
• Manage expense tracking, accruals, provisions, and cost center reviews.
• Partner with business leaders to analyze variances, monitor financial performance, and develop corrective action plans.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, reporting requirements, and audit standards.
• Support internal and external audits and ensure audit readiness.
• Conduct balance sheet reviews and oversee P&L and balance sheet transactions.
• Participate in strategic business initiatives, distributor management, and business growth projects.
• Deliver ad-hoc financial analyses and insights to support business decision-making.

Qualifications

Required:

• BCom Accounting degree.
• 5+ years' experience in a Senior Financial Analyst or similar finance role.
• Ideally Completed CIMA or Registered CA(SA) or eligible to register as a CA(SA) is advantageous
