Our client a well‑established and reputable Waste Management organisation is seeking a highly experienced and forward‑thinking Senior Finance Manager to join their dynamic team.

This is a pivotal leadership role for a finance professional who is strategic, decisive and solutions‑oriented with strong business acumen and the ability to guide financial performance across a purpose‑driven organisation.

Main Purpose of the Role

To oversee and manage the organisation’s financial resources and ensure long‑term financial health. This includes developing and implementing financial strategies, producing accurate financial reports, supporting cross‑departmental decision‑making and ensuring alignment with regulatory frameworks and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
  • Produce accurate monthly management accounts and variance reports.
  • Prepare VAT reports and liaise with auditors (Statutory BBBEE and EPR).
  • Develop financial procedures, internal controls and procurement policies.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.
  • Assist with annual budgets, strategic planning and finance‑related forecasting.
Systems & Controls
  • Manage financial systems and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
  • Oversee accounting systems (e.g. GL setup, sub‑ledgers, cost centres).
  • Drive system integration and efficiency (especially EPR and project databases).
EPR Fees Invoicing & Collections
  • Oversee invoicing fee collection and integration between online EPR systems and financial software.
  • Continuously review and improve system functionality.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
  • Authorise payments and ensure adherence to procurement policy.
  • Maintain control over creditor payments and debtor follow‑ups.
  • Review debtor age analysis and implement effective collections strategies.
Reconciliations & Project Accounting
  • Review financial reconciliations and ensure accurate asset tracking.
  • Maintain integrity of project databases and compliance with MoAs.
  • Monitor project costs, assets, impairments and loan repayments.
Business & Team Administration
  • Provide financial support to the Projects Team.
  • Coordinate procurement, supplier communication and admin functions.
  • Support data management, reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Assist with logistics, travel coordination and meeting preparation.
Qualifications & Experience Required
  • CA(SA), CIMA, SAIPA or similar professional qualification preferred.
  • Tertiary or equivalent qualification required – Bachelor of Commerce / Business Science degree in Finance and/or Accounting or related.
  • 58 years senior financial management experience including team leadership.
  • Industry experience in waste management, recycling, sustainability, plastic manufacturing, logistics, IT, NGOs or related sectors (advantageous).​
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS compliance, controls).
  • Hands‑on experience with financial systems; knowledge of Xero highly advantageous.
  • Excellent MS Excel skills (essential).
  • Proven understanding of South African statutory legislation and financial governance.
