Job Purpose
The Senior Finance Business Partner is responsible for supporting and managing the Finance Business Partners in conjunction with performance management, decision taking and commercial support, pricing support/product profitability analysis, product modelling/profitability, budgeting/forecasting, business case preparation and review, market/customer/competitor analysis and are a key agent of change.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Partner Activities: Manage and support Finance business in their functions and output to key stakeholder to ensure consistency and accuracy
- Act as the main link between the Finance function and the business (e.g. Operations and Sales teams)
- Provide proactive business, functional and external (market, competitor and customer) insight based on in–depth business knowledge
- Solve key business problems in a timely manner
- Improve business decision making, influencing and drive optimal business outcomes
- Develop and sustain long term relationships with business stakeholders (e.g. CFO, Business Heads, BLT Group)
- Identify and challenge ways of working that impact efficient performance delivery and influence stakeholders to initiate changes with the COE and GPOs
- Identify gaps and close out in a timely manner
- Coach non-finance managers for gaps identified
- Form judgments based on ambiguous and incomplete data
- Partner closely with business decision makers to gain deeper understanding of business operations
- Compilation of Business Plan: Enable the compilation of the Business Plan for the Business Unit
- Facilitating and compiling the Business Unit plans Integrating BU operational plans with financial plan to enable operating plan delivery
- Influencing strategic direction of the Business Unit through interpretation of the financial and sustainable impacts of strategic direction
- Challenging Business Unit assumptions and strategies to ensure alignment with common realities and Group functions
- Review finance business partners business plans
- Governance and Financial Risk: Ensure appropriate governance and financial risk management
- Create business risk awareness to identify risks for the short and medium-term financial strategic objectives, and to develop and implement necessary risk mitigating plans in line with the organisation Risk Management Framework
- Provide specialist input into financial risk matters and fulfil a governance role in accounting, tax, insurance, procurement, financial information management systems by liaising with Centres of Excellence
- Ensure the operation of robust internal control system in the Business Unit to enhance control effectiveness and address process inefficiencies by liaising with Design Authority Team
- Customer Service: Manage and enhance customer service expectations and ensure continuous improvement and service
- Use a formalised process to understand customer needs
- Ensure customer needs and requirements are satisfied through appropriate systems / processes / procedures
- Initiate change to continually improve all aspect of service delivery
- Resource Management: Focus team on key performance areas to achieve business objectives and identify and manage risk / opportunities
- Embed appropriate performance management with direct reports
- Contribute to the formation of a key element of functional strategy through specialist expertise and insights, to ensure that the strategy meets business needs
- Information and Business Advice: Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving complex or contentious queries and issues and enabling others to take appropriate actions

We are seeking a dynamic and analytical Senior Finance Business Partner to assist with end-to-end client reporting within the corporate and investment bank. This role is ideal for a finance professional who thrives on data-driven insights, enjoys solving complex problems creatively, and is passionate about delivering exceptional reporting and performance management solutions that drive strategic decision-making.
The successful individual will be primarily responsible for the reporting for the ARO and the International coverage teams, Pan Africa RWA analysis as well as the management of automated banker and sector heads/in-country coverage heads scorecards.
The above includes month end reporting; Working with the MyMI team to understand the data and resolve issues; Address adhoc questions from bankers and heads; Run scorecards;Work with the numerous stakeholders to derive a budget that aligns with product and makes sense considering sector, country and macroeconomic nuances. The individual will be expected to translate the numbers into a story that can be easily understood and use the data to provide valuable insights that allow the business to make decisions. The role will involve a level of agility as the team is flexible around tasks each member is responsible for to avoid key-man dependency and ensure constant opportunities for learning and development.

- Client-Focused Financial Reporting: Oversee end-to-end month-end reporting for the ARO and International coverage businesses, ensuring timely, accurate, and insightful financial outputs.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand reporting needs and deliver tailored solutions.
- Work with the MyMI team to develop automated reporting tools and dashboards.
- Identify and implement solutions to streamline reporting processes and improve data quality.
- Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for internal and external clients.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business units, providing financial guidance and performance analysis.

- Continuously explore and adopt new technologies and data tools to enhance reporting capabilities.
Scorecard Development & Performance Tracking
- Design and maintain performance scorecards for bankers and client teams, aligning KPI"s with the broader CIB scorecard.
- Work with the MyMI team and developers to implement automated scorecards and ensure monthly publications meet expectations.
- Provide monthly and bi-annual performance reviews with commentary and anomaly analysis.
- Address adhoc questions from bankers and heads regarding scorecards.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
- Lead the annual budgeting process for the ARO and International coverage businesses, coordinating with product, sector heads, countries and corridor heads.
- Develop rolling forecasts and scenario models to support agile decision-making.
- Analyze budget vs. actuals and provide actionable insights to improve financial performance.
RWA and capital management engagement
- Support initiatives to optimize capital usage across the organization
- Perform analysis of RWA's across sectors and teams
- Work with capital management to cascade the RWA budget to client
Data Quality & Management Information Collaboration
- Work closely with the Management Information (MI) team to ensure data integrity, consistency, and completeness across all reporting platforms.
- Collaborate on the development of reconciliation processes and controls to improve reporting reliability.
Business Partnering & Strategic Insight
- Act as a trusted advisor to business, providing financial insight and challenge to support strategic initiatives.
- Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (CIMA/CA(SA)/ACCA preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in a finance role within the banking or financial services sector or audit.
- Proven experience in client reporting, financial analysis, and business partnering.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office. Proficiency in other data tools is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems creatively and drive process improvements.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work with vast quantities of data.
Education
Postgraduate Degrees and Professional Qualifications: Financial Sciences (Required)
