Placements24 is seeking a Senior Research Scientist in Queenstown to lead microbial strain development and fermentation program across pilot-scale to industrial applications. You will design experiments, oversee data-driven optimization and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive scalable bioproduction.
The role demands a PhD in Microbiology/related field, 5+ years in microbial process development, and strong communication and leadership skills within a growing biotechnology setting.
Qualifications
- PhD in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5 years post-doctoral or industry experience in microbial process development.
- Strong knowledge of microbial physiology, genetics and metabolic engineering.
Responsibilities
- Lead development and optimization of microbial strains and fermentation processes for industrial applications.
- Design and execute laboratory and pilot-scale fermentation experiments, controlling process parameters.
- Perform microbiological analyses including identification, characterization and quality control testing.
- Apply molecular biology techniques for strain improvement and genetic engineering.
- Analyze fermentation data, identify KPIs and implement process improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to scale up fermentation processes.
