A global environmental services firm is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist in Cape Town to lead and deliver environmental studies. The ideal candidate has over 8 years of experience, a relevant degree, and is registered as a Scientist with SACNASP. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Environmental Scientist to join our dynamic team to support both our local and global business.
Project Involvement: Lead and deliver discipline-specific input in various projects, ensuring effective collaboration and delivery.
Conduct detailed environmental studies, assessments, and prepare drawings and reports.
Oversee the development of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), including data review and compilation of baseline documentation.
Mentor junior environmental planners and environmental scientists, ensuring high-quality work and professional growth.
Lead public participation and stakeholder engagement processes, serving as the main interface with clients and competent authorities.
Coordinate small to mid-size project teams, prepare project deliverables, and provide specialized technical input.
Ensure high-quality, cost-effective work by following or developing environmental assessment procedures.
Build and maintain client relationships, attend client meetings, and participate in the development of bids and proposals.
Project Coordination: Manage and coordinate project teams, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
Environmental Assessments: Conduct interdisciplinary reviews, apply legislative knowledge to manage environmental risks and obtain necessary approvals.
Use innovative approaches to solve problems and improve existing processes.
Perform technical quality reviews of assessments, models, and surveys, adhering to corporate standards and safety regulations.
Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience in environmental science or engineering.
Bachelor's degree in Science, Arts, or Engineering from an accredited university.
A Master's degree is preferred but not required.Professional Registration: Registered as a Scientist with SACNASP and as an Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) with EAPASA in South Africa.
