Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an experienced Environmental Assessment Practitioner to join our Environmental Planning and Advisory team in South Africa as a Senior Environmental Consultant. The role leads EIAs/ESIAs for infrastructure and mining, with exposure to environmental due diligence and ESG advisory services across Africa.

The candidate should have a strong track record in environmental consulting, project management, report writing, and stakeholder engagement, with willingness to travel in Africa

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Environmental Science or related field.
• 6–10 years of relevant environmental consulting experience.
• Experience conducting EIAs/ESIAs in South Africa.
• Experience with large infrastructure/mining projects.
• Professional registration or eligibility for professional registration with EAPASA/SACNASP.
• Ability to travel within South Africa and Africa; valid driver’s licence.
• Strong analytical, report-writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver EIAs/ESIAs and related environmental authorisation processes.
• Lead and support local and international environmental and social assessment projects for infrastructure/mining projects.
• Support environmental and social due diligence assignments, including technical reviews and risk assessments.
• Manage projects, budgets, schedules, deliverables, resources and multidisciplinary teams.
• Review, integrate and quality-assure specialist studies and inputs.
• Lead and support stakeholder engagement and public participation processes.
• Manage client relationships, lead client meetings and present findings and recommendations.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports, client deliverables and proposals.
