Overview

Senior Engineer: Wastewater & Water Treatment (National) – POS25279

Location: South Africa (National Scope)

Salary: Market Related

Key Purpose of the Role

Lead the planning, design, and implementation of advanced water and wastewater treatment infrastructure projects, including water reuse and reclamation systems. You will oversee all project phases — from feasibility and design to commissioning and close-out — ensuring sustainable, innovative, and compliant solutions that meet client and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• BSc/BEng in Chemical, Civil, or Process Engineering (Master’s degree advantageous).
• Professional Registration (PrEng) with ECSA – essential.
• 15–20 years’ experience in water and wastewater treatment project delivery.
• Proven expertise in both greenfield and brownfield projects.
• Strong background in:
• Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants (conventional & advanced)
• Reuse and reclamation systems (potable and non-potable)
• Process design, optimisation, and commissioning
• Familiarity with national standards (SANS, SABS) and contract frameworks (GCC, FIDIC).
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil Designer, Civil 3D; process simulation tools advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver water and wastewater treatment projects from concept through commissioning.
• Design and implement water reuse and reclamation systems for municipal, industrial, and agricultural clients.
• Evaluate and apply advanced treatment technologies (e.g., membrane filtration, UV disinfection, ozonation, advanced oxidation).
• Lead process design, feasibility studies, and system optimisation.
• Prepare design reports, PFDs, P&IDs, specifications, and tender documentation.
• Provide technical support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Ensure adherence to quality, HSE, and regulatory standards.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, contributing to business development and proposal preparation.
• Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge-sharing within multidisciplinary teams.
• Promote our technical excellence through presentations, conference papers, and industry publications.
