Job summary

Mintek, in the Mineral Processing Division, seeks a Senior Engineer to execute and manage commercial projects, and to contribute to journal and conference papers.

You will design and supervise metallurgical test work, interact with researchers and clients, manage budgets, and mentor staff, with travel locally and internationally. The role requires a MSc Eng in Chemical/Metallurgical engineering and 5 years' experience in physical separation.

Qualifications

• 5 years' experience in physical separation studies/projects
• Experience in R&D of physical separation projects
• Willingness to study, grow and be an expert in the field
• Professional registration and voluntary association membership would be an advantage

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, conduct and co-ordinate research projects
• Execute metallurgical test work
• Interact with stakeholders (researchers and clients) at a technical level
• Manage and control finances of the research and commercial projects
• Undertake and co-ordinate test work and communicate results to relevant stakeholders
• Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of subordinate staff, to ensure that service of a high standard is rendered to clients, at full cost recovery
• Provide technical and practical guidance in the execution of experiments
