Job Description
- The incumbent will be responsible for rendering a reliable support and advisory service through high quality non-destructive evaluation by conducting analysis, testing and diagnosis of information using the latest technology.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Performing an acceptance test to check for conformance with good engineering practice.
- Identifying critical equipment to be monitored by discussing with Section Engineers.
- Studying the failure mode of the critical equipment and populate aggressive strategy to prevent, predict and prolong the life of the Plant Equipment using the latest technology such as magnetic particle inspection, wall thickness inspection, dye penetrant inspection, Ultrasonic flow inspection and visual inspection.
- Analysing, interpreting data and advising operations or maintenance divisions for corrective action.
- Rendering technical support and expertise to ensure availability of equipment.
- Following up on the failure recommendation to quantify the value add.
- Training Artisans, Engineering students and Servicepersons on NDE technology methodologies.
- Facilitate defect elimination (process to identify the possible causes of defects.)
- Providing after-hours standby duties for maintenance and operations.
- Conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement changes where required.
- Sending equipment for third parties or calibration.
- Building and maintaining NDE database for trending and analysis.
- Researching, developing and improving existing methods, technology, and physical equipment.
- Implementing change as and when required.
- Maintaining and improving Safety, Health and Environmental standards and practices.
- Performing high quality tasks related to the job.
- Implementation of NDE Quality Control Standards Mine-wide.
- Compiling reports on the status and the condition of the assets.
- Presenting the reports to clients.
- Capturing SAP notifications to initiate corrective action.
- Ordering parts, spares and relevant materials and tools.
Intrinsic Qualities:
- Must have strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must have good organisational skills.
- Must have strong Analytical skills.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Must have good knowledge NDE and maintenance philosophies.
- Advanced Computer literacy.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma in Non-Destructive Examination or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical qualification.
- Certified level 2 in Magnetic Particle Inspection, Dye Penetrant Inspection and Ultrasonic Flow inspection.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Minimum of 3 years NDE experience.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all reliability engineering practices incorporate safety standards.
- Actively participate in safety toolbox talks and integrate findings into Intelex (e.g., hazard identification, near misses).
Operational Efficiency Evaluation
- Assess Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of pump systems, focusing on availability, performance, and quality.
- Investigate OEE KPIs to benchmark performance.
Failure Analysis & Reliability Tracking
- Define and monitor failure modes in the wet end of pumps (e.g., impeller wear, liner wear, bearing assembly issues).
- Track frequency and causes of pump failures annually to identify reliability trends.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of root cause analyses conducted on pump failures.
Predictive Maintenance & Technology Adoption
- Assess the implementation and impact of predictive maintenance tools (e.g., Life Cycle Costing, condition monitoring).
- Collaborate with the ConMon team on case studies to validate predictive strategies.
Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM)
- Evaluate the application of RCM principles in developing optimal maintenance strategies for pump systems.
Inventory Management
- Review the efficiency of spare parts inventory systems to ensure critical components are available while minimizing excess stock.
Performance & Energy Optimization
- Monitor projects aimed at improving pump system reliability and performance.
- Support initiatives that enhance energy efficiency, contributing to sustainability and cost reduction goals.
Proactive Issue Identification
- Evaluate the engineer\'s role in identifying and mitigating potential issues before they result in pump failures.
- Assess the quality of collaboration between reliability engineers and maintenance teams to ensure a unified approach to reliability.
Training & Knowledge Sharing
- Monitor the rollout and effectiveness of training programs designed to build reliability expertise within the maintenance team.
