A manufacturing company in Cape Town is seeking a skilled engineering professional to drive maintenance engineering and improve operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background with PLC and SCADA systems, expertise in electrical circuitry, and the ability to analyze and improve maintenance strategies. This role emphasizes safety and compliance while implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
This role works closely with projects and process engineering to achieve common and collective company objectives.
Prioritize safety & Integrity of equipment, plant, and personnel above all else.
Responsible for interpretation, organising and implementation of maintenance engineering within the plant environment.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and improve sustainability through research, defining processes, developing standards of work and ensuring resources are trained and managed accordingly.
OEE ImprovementsAnalyses of Downtime to identify production & quality deficiencies.
Design, develop and implement effective resolutions to mitigate identified opportunities. Ensuring designs and implemented projects meets compliance regulations.
Make use of various problem‑solving methodologies to determine corrective actions in order to mitigate repetitive breakdowns of equipment / machinery.
Project Implementation Develop, drive, and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Continually analyse cost of maintenance and projects to identify areas for cost saving and improvement. Ensure projects are accurately scoped to meet safety / production / quality / legislative requirements.
Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Continually analyse, review, interpret, calculate and develop implemented preventive maintenance strategies through collaboration with maintenance and TPM department in order to effective uptime of machinery. Ensure effective preventive maintenance and equipment care strategies are implemented across departmental machinery. Provide technical insight into planning and scheduling of preventive maintenance (TPM).
Process Adherence and Controls Collaborate closely with maintenance to further improve implemented instructions. Develop and review of Standard setup sheets (SSS) of critical machinery. Ensure SWI's and MWI's are instructed in a safe working manner and ensure safety & quality risks are accounted for and mitigated prior to implementation of instructions. Work closely with machinery OEMs to determine, implement, and incorporate best practices into SWI and SSS's.
Administration & Ad hoc Tasks Carry out general administrative responsibility relating to position, e.g. scheduling of meetings, correspondence, document management etc.
Minimum RequirementsNQF 7 or GCC and / or B Eng.
