Job summary

SLR Consulting seeks a Senior Sustainable Finance E&S Consultant based in South Africa to drive the growth of its Sustainable Finance services across Africa. You will manage complex projects, lead E&S due diligence, and forge strategic partnerships with international lenders.

The role demands seniority in environmental and social risk management, strong client leadership, and the ability to mentor teams across regions. Travel will be required as projects span multiple countries.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in environmental management, Environmental Science or related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience leading projects.
• Strong knowledge of sub-Saharan Africa regulatory frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of international lender standards (IFC, World Bank, EDFIs).
• Strong consulting experience with client relationship management.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and inspire teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide E&S technical skills and project management for Sustainable Finance projects.
• Balance E&S auditing (ESDDs, monitoring) with desktop advisory work.
• Lead project governance including scope, schedule, and budget.
• Drive business development, client relationships, proposals and delivery.
• Mentor junior staff and foster collaboration across regions.
• Travel as a component of this role.
• Engage in thought leadership and external networking within Africa.
