Placements24 seeks a Senior Research Pharmacologist to join its cutting-edge Drug Discovery team in Mahikeng, blending essential lab work with remote data analysis and collaboration to advance novel targets and therapeutic candidates.

The role requires a PhD in Pharmacology/Toxicology and 5+ years of pharma R&D experience, with expertise in assays, SAR, and LC-MS/MS methods, plus strong communication and proactive problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Toxicology, or related life science.
• Minimum 5 years in drug discovery research, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong expertise in pharmacological techniques including receptor binding assays, enzyme kinetics, and cellular assays.
• Proficiency in bioanalytical methods (e.g., LC-MS/MS) and basic pharmacokinetics knowledge.
• Excellent problem-solving and proactive research approach.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a hybrid team environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and interpret in vitro and in vivo pharmacological assays to assess drug efficacy and safety.
• Identify and validate novel drug targets through literature review and experiments.
• Contribute to lead-optimization through SAR studies.
• Develop and implement robust bioanalytical methods for PK/PD assessments.
• Collaborate with medicinal chemists, toxicologists, and cross-functional teams.
• Prepare reports, present findings, and contribute to regulatory submissions.
