Responsibilities
- You will report directly to the DVC: Academic and be charged with providing strategic direction and management oversight of the Learning and Teaching Enhancement (DLTE) Division.
- Your key foci will be the complete academic planning for the institution, in which you will make a significant contribution to the development and implementation of the Learning and Teaching Strategy, specifically in the context of Stellenbosch University's Vision.
- The five units under your control include:
- Centre for Learning and Teaching
- Centre for Learning Technologies
- Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance
- Language Centre
- Student Success Programme
- You will be expected to enhance a process where these units work in a matrix that combines collaborative projects and unit-based responsibilities.
- Conducting, supervising and communicating institutional research/data for strategic decision making is a forte of yours and is backed by your ability to think innovatively, markedly in an interdisciplinary setting.
- To this end, your understanding of current trends and debates in digitally mediated teaching and learning is beyond most.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree and at least seven years’ relevant management experience in higher education, where your leadership and strategic planning are standout features.
- Detailed understanding of the South African higher education system and its policy framework.
- Recognized ability to contribute to strategy as a member of a senior management team.
- Exemplary interpersonal skills to lead and work in teams, especially in a transforming multilingual cultural environment.
- Published intellectual work that demonstrates academic standing in higher education studies, including teaching and learning.
- Background in finance and awareness of global higher education trends.
