Job summary

Express Employment Professionals Midrand seeks an experienced Fleet Technician to maintain and repair heavy commercial trucks, engines, gearboxes, brakes, air systems and suspensions. You will diagnose faults, perform auto-electrical work and support roadside breakdowns to keep fleets on the road.

With 10+ years in senior maintenance, you will ensure safety and regulatory compliance, working across workshop and field environments in Gauteng.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of senior experience in heavy vehicle maintenance.
• Experience with heavy trucks, engines and gearboxes.
• Ability to diagnose faults and perform electrical work.

Responsibilities

• Fleet maintenance & repairs on heavy trucks, engines, gearboxes, brakes and suspensions.
• Trailer and axle servicing, focusing on air suspension axles.
• Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment to minimize downtime.
• Perform auto-electrical repairs across vehicles and trailers.
• Attend to roadside breakdowns and provide field service repairs.
• Ensure all repairs meet safety and regulatory standards.

Job description

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Fleet Maintenance & Repairs: Perform extensive hands-on repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy commercial trucks, engines, gearboxes, brakes, air systems, and suspensions.


• Trailer & Axle Servicing: Execute comprehensive maintenance and repairs on trailer components, specializing in air suspension axles.


• Diagnostics & Fault Finding: Accurately troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, utilizing diagnostic equipment to minimize fleet downtime.


• Auto-Electrical Work: Identify and repair auto-electrical faults across vehicles and trailers.


• Breakdown Response: Attend to roadside breakdowns in the surrounding regions and perform efficient field service repairs when required.


• Quality Assurance: Ensure all workshop and field repairs meet strict safety, operational, and regulatory standards
