Job summary

ATS Client in Pretoria is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with a backend focus to join a high-performing product team. You will design, build, deploy, and operate backend services using Java and Quarkus, with exposure to cloud-native DevOps while contributing to frontend work when required.

You will implement automated tests, provide Tier-3 production support, and help ensure scalable, reliable, and compliant digital solutions across the stack.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in a mid-to-senior technical role.
• 7+ years total professional IT experience.
• Experience with DevOps in cloud-native environments.
• Strong Java backend and Quarkus experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate in analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment within an Agile/DevOps model.
• Design, build, deploy, and operate backend services using Java and modern frameworks.
• Contribute to frontend development where required, working with Angular-based applications.
• Implement automated unit and integration tests to ensure quality and reliability.
• Support production systems as part of a Tier‑3 DevOps operational support role.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents to ensure high availability of critical systems.
• Plan and execute upgrades to applications, tools, and platforms.
• Create and maintain system documentation, SOPs, and technical artifacts.
• Build cloud-native solutions to support scalability, resilience, and business agility.
