Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field.
• 7+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, with energy/oil & gas sector experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Python or R and associated libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong experience with SQL and big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop).
• Expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data mining.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Data Scientist to spearhead their advanced analytics initiatives, operating remotely with a focus on their Oil & Gas operations. This role is pivotal in leveraging vast datasets to drive operational efficiencies, enhance exploration success, and optimize production through predictive modeling and machine learning. You will work with large, complex datasets from seismic, drilling, production, and financial streams to uncover actionable insights and develop data-driven solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms to solve complex business problems in exploration, production, and operations.
• Clean, process, and analyze large, diverse datasets from various sources within the oil and gas value chain .
• Build predictive models for equipment failure, production optimization, reservoir performance, and market trends.
• Design and conduct A/B tests and other experiments to validate hypotheses and measure the impact of data-driven solutions.
• Collaborate with domain experts (geoscientists, engineers, business analysts) to understand their needs and translate them into data science projects.
• Communicate complex findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through visualizations and reports.
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the development of best practices and methodologies.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, with a significant portion in the energy sector .
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R and associated data science libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong experience with SQL and working with large datasets, including big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning techniques, and data mining.
