Job summary

ATS Client is seeking a Senior Data Scientist in Johannesburg to design, develop, and deploy data-driven solutions that support underwriting, claims, and customer engagement. You will work with cross‑functional teams to uncover insights and optimize business processes.

The role requires 5+ years in data science or analytics, strong Python/R skills, proficiency in SQL, and experience with Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Power BI. Hybrid work arrangement offered in Johannesburg.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Econometrics, Statistics, Physics, or IS (with strong data/tech experience) or BSc in Computer Science with business interest, or Data Science qualification with experience.
• 5+ years in data science or advanced analytics.
• Strong programming in Python and/or R.
• Proficiency in SQL for data querying/manipulation.
• Experience with Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
• Data visualization with Power BI and reporting.
• Solid understanding of ML techniques and deployment.
• Experience with large-scale datasets and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain advanced machine learning models.
• Analyze large datasets to extract actionable insights.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into analytical solutions.
• Build and optimize data pipelines using modern cloud technologies.
