Job summary

Ovations Technologies is seeking a Senior Data Analyst in Johannesburg with hybrid work arrangement (3 days in office) for a 3-month contract. The role focuses on data analytics, modeling, and building reporting solutions, while enabling lightweight applications and API integrations around data and analytics platforms.

The candidate will work with cloud and data platforms like Azure and Fabric, and collaborate with frontend (React) and backend/API development, ensuring end-to-end data solutions

Senior Data Analyst

Johannesburg-hybrid 3 days in the office

3 months contract-Oct-Dec

The primary requirement remains data analytics, including the ability to analyse complex datasets, develop data models, build reporting solutions, and translate business requirements into technical solutions. In addition, the resource should be comfortable developing user-facing applications and integrating these applications with data platforms and analytical solutions.

The preferred technical requirements are as follows:

• Cloud and data platform: Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric


• Frontend development: React


• Backend development: No specific technology preference, provided the candidate has experience developing APIs, backend services, and application integrations


• Databases and data storage: Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases, data warehouses, lakehouses, and cloud-based data platforms


• Data engineering: Experience building data pipelines, performing data transformations, integrating multiple data sources, and managing data quality


• Software development: Experience developing end-to-end applications, integrating frontend and backend components, and applying appropriate software development practices


• Integration: Experience connecting applications to APIs, databases, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and other Azure services


• DevOps: Exposure to Git, version control, CI/CD, deployment processes, and application support would be beneficial

The ideal candidate does not need to be a specialist full-stack developer. We are looking for a strong data professional who can also develop lightweight applications, interfaces, and APIs around data and analytics solutions.

The profile could therefore be positioned as a Data Analyst / Analytics Engineer with Full-Stack Development Experience, rather than a traditional Data Analyst or pure Full-Stack Developer.
