This role merges core business analytics with artificial intelligence architecture to transform raw organisational data into actionable operational insights. Situated within a collaborative fintech environment, the position involves designing automated AI workflows, developing interactive dashboard reports, and running complex database queries. The key focus is bridging traditional business intelligence and modern LLM-driven automation to enhance overall performance and efficiency. Working hours are full-time, standard business hours (37.5 to 40 hours per week), with flexibility tailored around output and core deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct, deploy, and manage automated AI workflows and LLM integrations to enhance operational efficiency.
- Design, execute, and optimise complex SQL database queries (specifically PostgreSQL) and Python scripts for data transformation and analysis.
- Build, maintain, and refine interactive business intelligence dashboards and reporting solutions for cross-functional stakeholders.
- Develop prompt engineering strategies, agent frameworks, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures while applying model evaluation protocols.
- Perform advanced data modeling, data manipulation, and analytics utilising Microsoft Excel features such as Power Query and Power Pivot.
- Configure and maintain integration components, relying on containerisation tools, version control platforms, and API-driven automation systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analysis, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a Data Analyst, Business Intelligence, or data-centric analytical role.
- Hands-on experience developing or implementing solutions with AI agents, LLM integrations, or automated workflow systems.
- Strong technical command of SQL (PostgreSQL) and Python for data transformation, scripting, and analytics.
- Practical understanding of prompt engineering techniques, agent frameworks, RAG architectures, and evaluation standards.
- Proven background in utilising data visualisation/BI tools alongside advanced Excel capabilities (Power Query, Power Pivot, data modeling).
- Operational experience with web APIs, automation engines, Docker containerisation, and GitHub workflow management.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organisational skills with strict attention to detail.
- High proficiency in professional written and spoken English and Afrikaans.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience operating within the Fintech or Software‑as‑a‑Service (SaaS) industries.
- Exposure to the South African financial services or financial planning landscape.
- Proficiency in Afrikaans.
