Job summary

Placements24 is partnering with a leading fintech in Sandton, Gauteng, seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to design, implement, and manage advanced security solutions across on‑premises and cloud environments. You will help protect critical infrastructure, applications, and data while maturing the security program.

The role requires 7+ years of experience, strong IAM, IAM, and cloud security expertise, and a proactive, collaborative approach in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in cybersecurity engineering or a similar role.
• Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-level security solutions.
• Deep understanding of network security, system security, cloud security (AWS, Azure), and application security.
• Proficiency with security tools such as SIEM, EDR, firewalls, vulnerability scanners, and IAM systems.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
• Strong knowledge of threat modeling and risk assessment methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, OSCP, or cloud security certifications are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security infrastructure, including firewalls, WAFs, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and endpoint security solutions.
• Develop and automate security processes and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Conduct security assessments, vulnerability management, and penetration testing activities.
• Implement and manage identity and access management (IAM) solutions.
• Monitor security alerts and respond to incidents, ensuring timely containment and remediation.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps processes.
• Architect and implement cloud security solutions for AWS and Azure environments.
• Stay current with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, policies, and procedures.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior security engineers.
