Qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

About the Role

Our client, a leading agricultural inputs provider with a strong presence in Benoni, Gauteng , is seeking an experienced Senior Crop Protection Specialist. This role is crucial for advising farmers on effective and sustainable strategies to manage pests, diseases, and weeds that impact crop yields. You will leverage your deep scientific knowledge and practical experience to develop integrated pest management (IPM) programs tailored to specific crops and regional conditions. This hybrid position allows for flexible working arrangements, combining remote strategic planning and analysis with on-site client consultations and field visits within the Gauteng region. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive crop protection strategies, including integrated pest management (IPM) plans, for a wide range of crops.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations regarding the use and handling of crop protection chemicals.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD degree in Entomology, Plant Pathology, Agronomy, or a related agricultural science discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in crop protection, integrated pest management, or a similar role within the agricultural sector.
• Extensive knowledge of common agricultural pests, diseases, and weeds affecting crops grown in South Africa.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing successful IPM strategies.
• Strong understanding of the modes of action and application methods for various crop protection products.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Superb communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with farmers.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a hybrid work environment.
• Proficiency in relevant agricultural software and data analysis tools is a plus.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Gauteng region for farm visits.
