Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Credit Controller to join our Finance team. In this role, you will lead credit control activities, manage aged debt, and optimise cash flow to support our continued growth and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the credit control function, including monitoring customer accounts, chasing overdue invoices, and managing payment plans.
  • Analyse aged receivables ledger daily and initiate appropriate recovery actions.
  • Liaise with NHS health rosters and client finance departments to resolve disputes and ensure prompt payment.
  • Prepare and distribute regular aged debt reports and cash-flow forecasts to senior management.
  • Reconcile client accounts, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective measures.
  • Maintain accurate records of all communications and recovery actions in the credit control system.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Accounts teams to assess credit risk and establish suitable credit terms for new and existing clients.
  • Mentor and support junior credit control staff, sharing best practices and driving process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, financial regulations, and GDPR requirements.
Requirements
  • Proven track record in a senior credit control or accounts receivable role, preferably within healthcare or agency staffing.
  • Strong understanding of credit control procedures, debt recovery, and cash-flow management.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport at all levels.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines.
  • A professional qualification in credit management or accounting (ACCA, CIMA, CICM) is desirable.
