Senior Credit Analyst – Investment Management | Cape Town

Are you an experienced Credit Analyst with deep expertise in credit research, market monitoring, and structured finance? A leading South African investment manager is seeking a Senior Credit Analyst to join its dynamic and high-performing Fixed Income team in Cape Town.

Responsibilities
  • Drive and evolve credit risk processes to align with investment strategy.
  • Conduct in-depth credit and market analysis (both domestic and global).
  • Present credit views and contribute to portfolio construction decisions.
  • Monitor credit exposure and compliance post-investment.
  • Support investment committees and approval processes through detailed risk analysis.
  • Engage in periodic internal reviews, site visits, and company monitoring.
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers and Risk functions to ensure risk-adjusted returns.
Your Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent. Postgraduate qualification (CA, CFA) is preferred.
  • 7–10 years of relevant experience in commercial credit, including listed / unlisted debt, structured finance, project finance, and securitisation.
  • Strong analytical and numerical capabilities, including working with large datasets and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with credit ratings models and risk systems; proficiency with Bloomberg / Reuters is a plus.
  • A strategic thinker with excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable navigating complex credit instruments and regulatory environments.
Ideal Candidate Competencies
  • Proven track record in deal sourcing and end-to-end transaction management.
  • Deep understanding of credit pricing, structuring, and valuation.
  • High degree of commercial awareness and ability to assess macro and microeconomic risks.
  • Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and operate within a collaborative investment culture.
