A reputable company in the mining sector is seeking a Senior Contracts Buyer to oversee purchasing activities and manage procurement personnel. The ideal candidate will have a relevant NQF level 6 qualification, 2-3 years of experience in procurement, and strong negotiation skills. Key responsibilities include maintaining supplier contracts and ensuring compliance with best practices. This role is vital for optimizing procurement efficiency and requires excellent leadership and business acumen.
Our client in the Mining Sector requires the services of a Senior Contracts Buyer. As a Senior Buyer you will be responsible to manage and guide purchasing personnel with the objective of optimising purchasing activities in accordance with production needs without deviating from global best procurement practices and/or company and Materials Management procedures.
Requirements : Relevant NQF level 6 qualification in Procurement / Logistics / Supply Chain or Finance essential.
Minimum of 2 - 3 years relevant experience within a procurement environment is essential.
At least 2 years experience in tendering, compiling adjudications, contract management, contract law and negotiations with suppliers.
Sound knowledge of market indices and associated contractual cost component breakdowns.
Must have a good understanding of inventory, procurement, logistics and warehousing.
Good people management skills, sound business acumen, strong negotiation skills and self-motivated individual.
Adequate knowledge on information systems, computer literacy, SAP or SAP-ARIBA.
Medically fit.
Job Responsibilities :
Practice ethical, honest and professional conduct regarding procurement activities.
Plan, control and monitor purchasing workloads for employees and perform more intricate and complicated purchasing activities.
Negotiate and maintain supply contracts and relationships to ensure best possible value for the company at the lowest risk.
Monitor the performance of suppliers against on time deliveries, conformance to quality requirements and price competitiveness and manage annual increases in accordance with contractual terms and conditions.
Compile high value tenders, adjudicate, clarify and finalize contractual agreements.
Manage, train and mentor supply chain personnel according to best practices.
Ensure that all relevant legislative requirements are adhered to.
Ensure effectiveness of company systems i.e. CURA, SAP, ISO etc.
