Job summary

Prudent HR Solutions is seeking an experienced Buyer to procure building materials, equipment and services for construction projects. You will develop strategies, source suppliers, negotiate terms, and manage budgets to achieve cost savings and ensure quality.

The role requires 5+ years in procurement, construction-industry knowledge, and strong communication skills. Centurion-based or willing to relocate. Full-time, on-site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field is required.
• Minimum of five years’ procurement experience.
• Construction or building-supplies industry experience preferred.
• Knowledge of building materials, suppliers and market trends.
• Based in Centurion or willing to relocate/commute.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective procurement strategies.
• Source and evaluate suppliers, products and pricing.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, payment terms and delivery conditions.
• Maintain supplier relationships and monitor performance.
• Research market pricing, products and industry trends.
• Manage procurement budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate stock requirements.
• Ensure purchased products meet quality standards and specifications.
• Resolve supplier, quality, pricing and delivery issues.
• Prepare procurement and supplier-performance reports.
• Manage Open-to-Buy budgets in line with inventory objectives.
• Review product ranges and suppliers periodically.
• Guide and support junior buyers.
• Demonstrate negotiation and commercial awareness.
