A leading university in Johannesburg seeks a Senior Committee Coordinator to provide administrative support for Governance and Management committees. Key responsibilities include drafting agendas and minutes, overseeing committee membership, and managing online meetings. Candidates must have a degree, five years of relevant experience, and strong English skills. This position offers a dynamic role within an academic environment.

Organization : Southern Centre for Inequality Studies (SCIS) Wits University
To provide committee service to the Governance and Management committees of the University as well as their standing committees.
Additional special meetings may be required throughout the year.
Service of ad hoc committees and task teams may also be required occasionally.
The incumbent is also responsible for liaising with and where necessary to provide an oversight role to other Committee Coordinators on work produced in the University Secretariat that is related to the aforementioned committees.
Preparation of notices, agendas, minutes and documentation for Governance and Management committees of the University
Liaison with and where necessary oversight role to other Committee Coordinators
Administration of elections
Maintenance of committee membership lists
Committee-related tasks delegated by the Vice–Chairman / Deputy Vice–Chancellors or other senior staff including the Head : University Secretariat, which can involve answering queries, background research, setting up discussion groups, drafting letters and proof-reading documents
Degree on NQF level 7 or a Diploma on NQF level 6 as a minimum qualification
Minimum of five years proven experience in drafting and editing high-level meeting documentation, e.g. drafting of reports and compilation of agendas and minutes
Excellent proficiency in written and oral English language skills
Knowledge of email systems and its functionalities to facilitate meeting management
Administrative systems and processes
Compiling high-level reports, agendas and minutes
Excellent planning, organisational, administrative and time-management skills
Demonstrable ability to precis debate at a high level and compile coherent reports
Prioritise, pay attention to detail, act on information, maintain confidentiality, collegiality and professionalism
Perform in a highly pressurised and deadline-driven environment
Demonstrable experience in computer literacy in Microsoft Office products, especially Outlook, Word, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint
BA (English Major) / Communication or equivalent
Certificate in Corporate Governance and Administration
Experience of working in a university or higher education environment
Copy editing skills
