Placements24 is seeking a Senior Underwriting Manager in Johannesburg to lead underwriting for commercial lines, drive profitability, and set strategic directions. The role blends in-office collaboration with remote work and requires a strong track record in risk assessment and team leadership.

You will mentor underwriters, refine policies, monitor market trends, and collaborate with brokers, clients, and other departments to ensure best-in-class service and product development.

Formación

• 8+ years in the insurance industry, with at least 5 in senior underwriting or management.
• Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment, pricing, and policy wording for commercial risks.
• Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate a team.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of Johannesburg insurance market advantageous.
• Professional designations such as CIP/FLMI are desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and implement underwriting policies and procedures for commercial lines.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of underwriters.
• Analyze and assess complex risks to ensure profitable business.
• Monitor market trends and regulatory changes to adapt strategies.
• Collaborate with sales and claims for seamless client service.
• Set performance targets and monitor KPIs for the team.
• Review large or complex insurance applications per guidelines.
• Contribute to development and launch of new insurance products.
