Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience as Cinematographer/Director of Photography.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating a wide range of visual styles and cinematography skills.
• Extensive knowledge of camera systems (Arri/RED/Sony), lenses, and lighting equipment.
• Willingness to relocate to Rustenburg or be based on-site.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the director to establish and execute the visual style for film, TV, or commercial projects.
• Lead the camera and lighting crews with clear direction and efficient workflow.
• Operate cameras, set up lighting equipment, and select lenses/filters to achieve desired visuals.
• Interpret scripts and storyboards to plan shot composition, camera movement, and lighting setups.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cinematographer to join their production team based in Rustenburg . As a Senior Cinematographer, you will be responsible for the overall look and feel of productions, translating scripts and creative concepts into stunning visual narratives. You will lead camera and lighting departments, ensuring the highest standards of quality and artistic integrity are met. This role requires a deep understanding of camera technology, lighting techniques, and composition. You will work closely with directors and producers to achieve their artistic vision, bringing a creative and technical mastery to every shot. The position is based on-site in Rustenburg , requiring full commitment to the production schedule and location.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with the director to establish and execute the visual style and aesthetic of film, television, or commercial projects.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience as a Cinematographer or Director of Photography in the film, television, or commercial production industry.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating a wide range of visual styles and exceptional cinematography skills.
• Extensive knowledge of various camera systems (e.g., Arri, RED, Sony), lenses, and lighting equipment.
• Proficiency in lighting techniques, including the use of natural and artificial light, and understanding of color theory.
• Ability to read and interpret scripts, storyboards, and shot lists effectively.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide camera and lighting crews.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a calm demeanor under pressure.
• A deep understanding of visual composition, framing, and color grading principles.
• Bachelor's degree in Film Studies, Cinematography, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Rustenburg area.
