• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and project management skills.
• Effective communication and ability to work across diverse teams.
• Familiarity with GMP or similar quality systems is desirable.

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic innovator in specialty chemicals, is seeking a Senior Chemical Process Engineer to play a crucial role in New Product Introduction (NPI) at their Paarl, Western Cape facility. This position is central to translating new chemical discoveries from laboratory scale to robust, scalable manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for process development, scale-up, validation, and ensuring seamless integration into commercial production. This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation within our client’s operations in the picturesque Western Cape region. The role operates on a hybrid model, facilitating both focused remote work and essential on-site collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the process development and scale-up activities for new chemical products from R&D through to commercial manufacturing.
• Design and execute pilot plant trials, analyze data, and develop robust operating procedures.
• Perform process modeling and simulation to predict performance and identify scale-up challenges.
• Develop Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate closely with R&D chemists, formulation scientists, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product launches.

• Troubleshoot and resolve process issues encountered during scale-up and initial production runs.
