thyssenkrupp Uhde South Africa is seeking an experienced Senior C&I Engineer to join the C&I Engineering Department in Durban. The role centers on leading client engagements, delivering C&I deliverables, and ensuring safety-life-cycle compliance across all project phases.

The ideal candidate holds a BSc./B.Eng. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with extensive experience, including LPG and hazardous-area projects, and is registered with ECSA or is CFSE/CFSP-certified.

Qualifications

• BSc./B.Eng. Electrical/ Electronic Engineering degree with 15 years engineering experience (20+ years preferred).
• Experience in contracting on energy and chemical/refining/petrochemical projects is required.
• Professional registration with ECSA is required; CFSE or CFSP preferred.
• Experience with LPG, refrigeration, cryogenic storage, terminals, marine, EPC and brownfields is essential; strong LPG experience is a must.
• Experience with IEC/SANS 60079 series; IEC 61511 and IEC 61508 requirements.

Responsabilités

• Lead engineer role and client interaction as part of an owner’s team.
• Participate in PFD/P&ID reviews, HAZOP reviews, 3D model and constructability reviews.
• Lead SIL reviews and perform manpower planning and project scheduling for the C&I team.
• Prepare scope of work for services and manage consultants to deliver to scope, quality and schedule.
• Execute projects within schedule and budget and ensure quality/technical QA on C&I deliverables.
• Develop functional-safety management plans, safety lifecycle deliverables, SIL classification and LOPA outputs.

Your responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Senior C&I Engineer with relevant design house experience to join the C&I Engineering Department.

The successful candidate will be required to fulfil the following job description but not limited to:

• Interaction with the client and forming part of an owner’s team with the client
• Performing lead engineer role.
• participate in PFD and P&ID Reviews, HAZOP reviews, 3D model and constructability reviews
• Lead SIL Reviews
• Perform manpower planning and project schedule management for the project C&I team
• Preparation of Scope of Work / Works Information for supply of services and management of consultants to deliver to scope, quality and schedule.
• Execute projects within schedule and budget
• IEC 61511 lifecycle experience on LPG, refinery, petrochemical or comparable major-hazard facilities.
• Perform LOPA, SIL determination/verification, SRS, validation and functional-safety assessment principles.
• Develop Functional-safety management plan, safety lifecycle deliverables, SIL classification and LOPA outputs

The scope of this role will require the incumbent to work in a projects-based environment covering all phases of project execution (feasibility, concept, basic, detail, construction support and commissioning).

The individual will engage in C&I design activities related to producing and checking C&I engineering deliverables.

The individual will be responsible for C&I deliverables and quality/ technical quality assurance on the project.

Your profile

• The successful candidate must be in possession of a BSc./ B.Eng. Electrical/ Electronic Engineering degree with 15 years engineering experience. 20+ years of experience is preferable.
• Experience in contracting environment working on projects in the energy and chemical/ refining / petrochemical industries is required.
• Lead Engineer Experience
• Professional Registration with ECSA is required.
• The candidate should be a registered CFSE or as a minimum, CFSP.
• The candidate must have participated in commissioning and plant start-up.
• The candidate must have refrigerated LPG, cryogenic storage, terminal, marine, EPC and brownfields experience. Strong LPG experience is essential.
• Experience with relevant codes for LPG facilities.
• Experience with IEC/SANS 60079 series for explosive atmospheres, hazardous area classification, equipment and inspection.
• Experience with IEC 61511 and IEC 61508 requirements
