Job summary

The Buyer position is part of the Shared Service Centre, reporting to the Procurement Manager. The role focuses on managing procurement processes, supplier relationships, compliance, and supporting transformation objectives through effective sourcing and stakeholder engagement.

You will oversee regional acquisition, ensure ISO 9001 alignment, develop commodity strategies, execute policies, and contribute to supplier development and performance reviews across the region.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate is required.
• CIPS qualification or a related diploma is required.
• Minimum 5 years in procurement; cement/construction materials exp is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage acquisition and expediting of goods and services for the region.
• Ensure ISO 9001 standards and procedures compliance.
• Develop regional commodity strategies aligned with national standards.
• Execute procurement policies and implementation plans.
• Support transformation objectives through supplier development and preferential procurement.
• Oversee supplier relationship management, including contracts and vendor performance.
• Participate in supplier selection, evaluation, and development of alternatives.
• Identify and qualify potential suppliers for vendor onboarding.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage acquisition and expediting of goods and services for the region.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards and procedures.
• Develop regional commodity strategies aligned with national standards.
• Execute procurement policies and implementation plans.
• Support transformation objectives through supplier development and preferential procurement.
• Conduct CEPs and share insights with Procurement Managers in other regions.
• Oversee supplier relationship management, including contract management and vendor performance.
• Participate in supplier selection, evaluation, and development of alternative sources.
• Identify and qualify potential suppliers for vendor onboarding.
• Engage in community stakeholder forums to address local procurement needs.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate.
• CIPS qualification or Diploma in Procurement, Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Commerce.

Skills & Knowledge

• Strong sourcing and procurement skills.
• Knowledge of SAP (MM, FI, PM modules).
• Understanding of SLAs, contract management, and inventory management.
• Ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
• Problem-solving and complaint-handling capabilities.
• Team collaboration and clear communication skills.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years in a procurement environment.
• Experience in cement or construction materials industry is advantageous.
