About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Analyst to work across complex, multi-domain environments within FinTech / Insurance / retirement investment platforms. You will play a critical role in gathering and translating business requirements, optimizing processes, supporting regulatory and compliance initiatives, and ensuring technology solutions align with strategic business objectives.

This role is ideal for Business Analysts who thrive in fast-paced, data-driven environments and have a solid understanding of financial products, investment platforms, policy administration, digital channels, and large-scale technology projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Requirements Gathering & Analysis
  • Conduct detailed business requirements elicitation using interviews, workshops, process mapping, and data analysis.
  • Translate complex business needs into clear functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Analyse and document current-state and future-state business processes across financial, insurance, and investment product domains.
  • Facilitate alignment across product, technology, compliance, and operational teams.
  1. Solution Design & Delivery Support
  • Partner with product owners, architects, and engineering teams to define solution options and assess business impact.
  • Support system design reviews, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Ensure system changes meet business rules, regulatory requirements, and product governance standards.
  • Provide traceability across requirements, processes, test cases, and business outcomes.
  1. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with product managers, developers, QA teams, compliance, operations, and senior stakeholders.
  • Present findings, recommendations, and documentation to business and technical audiences.
  • Drive alignment between business goals and technical capabilities to support strategic initiatives.
  • Mentor junior Business Analysts and contribute to business analysis maturity within the organisation.
Requirements & Qualifications
Must-Have Skills
  • 5–8+ years as a Business Analyst within FinTech, Insurance, Investments, Wealth Management, or LISP environments.
  • Strong understanding of financial products, investment processes, fund rules, and policy administration systems.
  • Proven experience writing user stories, use cases, business rules, functional requirements, and process maps (BPMN).
  • Proficient with BA and project tools such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, LucidChart.
  • Strong data analysis skills (Excel, SQL basics, dashboards, trend analysis).
  • Experience working in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) delivery environments.
  • Excellent documentation skills and ability to translate complex concepts into clear, concise deliverables.
Highly Desirable Skills
  • Experience with LISP administration systems, wealth systems, investment platforms, or insurance policy engines.
  • Background in regulatory or compliance-driven projects (FAIS, FICA, POPIA, TCF).
  • Exposure to APIs, integrations, digital onboarding, workflow automation, or customer portals.
  • Knowledge of business process re-engineering (BPR), operational optimisation, or product lifecycle management.
  • Strong stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and cross-team facilitation skills.
  • Experience with data-driven BA, reporting, or BI tools
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree, higher certificate, or diploma in Business Analysis, Information Systems, Finance / Investments, Business Management, or a related field.
Certifications (Beneficial but not required)
  • CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional)
  • CCBA (Certification of Capability in Business Analysis)
  • IIBA-AAC (Agile Analysis Certification)
  • PSPO or CSPO (Product Owner Certification)
  • BPMN Certification
  • SAFE/Agile Certifications (SAFe Agilist, SAFe Practitioner)
  • RE5 / Wealth Management or Insurance industry qualifications
