Job description

My client based in Bellville is currently looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join their team on a contract basis.

IT / FINANCE

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Informatics, Actuarial Science, or Engineering
• Business Analysis certification (e.g. FTI or similar)
• Project Management qualification advantageous
• 10+ years' experience as a Business Analyst within Financial Services (preferably short-term insurance or reinsurance)
• Proven experience working with high-volume transactional software
• Strong SQL skills (ability to read and execute code)
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power Query, and PowerBI (data modelling, dashboards, reporting)
• Experience in data analysis, data visualization, and process mapping
• Solid understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
• Skilled in using Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)
• Familiar with UML, BPMN, and Enterprise Architect tools
• Exposure to digital transformation, cloud technologies, and automation tools
• Working knowledge of Large Language Models (e.g., CoPilot) is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Engage with business stakeholders to identify challenges and opportunities
• Translate business needs into functional and technical requirements
• Develop business cases, models, and process documentation (UML, BPMN)
• Analyze data, processes, and system integrations to recommend improvements
• Collaborate with technical teams (development, QA, architecture, data) to ensure solutions meet business goals
• Participate in project lifecycle activities including QA, UAT, demos, and training
• Support incident investigations and system enhancements
• Contribute to system modernization initiatives (including cloud migration and automation)
• Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and project documentation using PowerBI and other tools
• Ensure alignment with internal standards, compliance, and governance processes
