Job summary

Pedros Chicken is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper to support and oversee key financial and accounting functions across our FMCG operations in Durban. The role focuses on accurate financial reporting, working capital management, and maintaining robust internal controls and SOPs.

You will supervise the finance team, coordinate audits, and ensure compliance with tax and statutory regulations while liaising with management and external service providers to drive financial efficiency.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Financial Management, Accounting or a related field.
• A valid Code 8 Driver’s Licence and own reliable vehicle.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Senior Bookkeeper or similar finance role.
• Experience with Sage 50 or Sage 200 or equivalent accounting systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Previous FMCG/retail sector experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, collate and interpret accurate financial reports to support management decision-making.
• Oversee and support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.

The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for supporting and overseeing key financial and accounting functions, including financial reporting, working capital management, internal controls and financial processes. Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Financial Management, Accounting or a related field.
• A valid Code 8 Driver’s Licence and own reliable vehicle.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Senior Bookkeeper or similar finance role.
• A sound understanding of the overall finance and accounting function, with a hands-on approach.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience using Sage 50, Sage 200 or a similar accounting system.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Previous experience within the FMCG, Fast Food or Retail sector will be advantageous.
• Cost accounting experience will be advantageous.
