Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to manage full bookkeeping functions and ensure compliance with South African tax regulations. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in the manufacturing sector and be proficient in Pastel Evolution. Strong attention to detail and Excel skills are essential for this role, which is based in Vaal Marina, Gauteng.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience as a Senior Bookkeeper in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory management.
• Knowledge of South African TAX regulations and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Full bookkeeping function up to TRIAL BALANCE.
• Manage and reconcile General Ledger Accounts.
• Process supplier and customer invoices, credit notes, and payments.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
• Prepare VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns.
• Assist with monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
• Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, variances, and margins.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Full bookkeeping function up to TRIAL BALANCE
• Manage & Reconcile General Ledger Accounts
• Process supplier & customer invoices, credit notes, and payments
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations
• Prepare VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns
• Assist with monthly management accounts and financial reporting
• Monitor & analyze manufacturing costs, variances, & margins
• Work closely with production & procurement teams to ensure accurate BOM costing
• Utilize Evolution BOM or Xperdyte to manage & report on production & inventory data
• Assist with year-end audits & liaise with external auditors
• Implement & maintain internal controls & financial procedures

Requirements

• Min - 5 years experience as a Senior Bookkeeper in a manufacturing environment
• Experience working on Pastel Evolution, including BOM module or Xperdyte Manufacturing Suite
• Strong understanding of cost accounting & inventory management
• Strong Excel skills (V-LOOKUPS & PIVOT TABLES)
• High attention to detail & accuracy
• Ability to work independently & meet deadlines
• Strong communication & interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of South African TAX regulations & compliance
