  • We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to oversee the financial operations of our Tour Operator business.

This role encompasses bookkeeping, payroll administration, statutory compliance including relevant tax requirements, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management: Full bookkeeping function, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Supplier reconciliations (hotels, travel partners, service providers).
  • Bank, cash, and credit card reconciliations.
  • Client payments, deposits, and refunds.
  • Cash flow monitoring and forecasting.
  • Preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
  • Audit readiness and support for external auditors.
  • Implementation of strong internal controls.
  • Payroll & Tax Compliance: Monthly payroll processing, including salaries, overtime, and commissions.
  • Ensure compliance with PAYE, UIF, SDL, and statutory submissions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.
  • Submission of VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns.
  • Collaborate and oversee corporate tax submissions and compliance with tax advisors.
  • Team & Operations Support: Collaborate with reservations and operations teams on tour-related costs and margins.
  • Provide financial insights for decision-making.
  • Train and supervise junior finance staff where required.
Requirements
  • 5–7 years' proven bookkeeping and payroll experience (tourism industry advantageous but not required).
  • Bookkeeping / Accounting qualification (Diploma or Degree).
  • Proficiency in Sage and related accounting systems.
  • Strong MS Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of tour operator / reservation systems (advantageous, but not required).
