Placements24, a fintech startup in Vereeniging, Gauteng, is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with Node.js expertise to design, build and maintain scalable backend systems powering financial platforms.

You will develop RESTful APIs, manage databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL/MongoDB), and ensure security, performance and robust microservices architecture while collaborating with frontend, product managers and other stakeholders.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong experience with Node.js and RESTful APIs is required.
• Experience with microservices and cloud deployment is essential.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and maintain Node.js code that is efficient and reusable.
• Develop RESTful APIs for frontend apps and third-party services.
• Integrate with various data sources and databases, ensuring data integrity and performance.

Our client, a rapidly expanding fintech startup in Vereeniging, Gauteng , is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Engineer with a specialization in Node.js. This role is crucial in designing, developing, and maintaining the robust and scalable backend systems that power their innovative financial platforms. You will be responsible for building efficient APIs, managing databases, and ensuring the performance and security of their applications. Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Node.js code.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer or similar role, with a strong focus on Node.js.
• Extensive experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and the Node.js ecosystem.
• Solid experience with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and design patterns.
• Experience with message queues (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka) is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and deployment strategies.
• Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., Mocha, Jest) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of version control systems, particularly Git.
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
