About the Role

We are looking for Senior Backend Engineers with strong experience in C++, C# and .NET to join a technically demanding engineering environment.

This role is suited to engineers who are comfortable working across backend systems, complex SQL, multi-threaded applications and Windows/Linux environments. Strong software engineering fundamentals are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality backend software solutions.
• Develop applications using C++, C#, .NET Core, WCF and WebAPI.
• Write portable and conformant C++ code targeting Windows and Linux environments.
• Design and develop relational database solutions using SQL Server.
• Develop complex and high-performance SQL queries.
• Work with multi-threaded and parallel development environments.
• Contribute to service-oriented architecture and distributed systems.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high coding standards.
• Apply software engineering principles including SOLID, KISS, TDD, DDD and Clean Code.
• Work within source code configuration and version control processes.
• Collaborate effectively with other engineers and stakeholders within an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.

Required Experience & Technical Skills

• 6+ years of relevant experience with a Degree/Diploma, or 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
• At least 5 years of relevant backend development experience.
• Strong experience with:
• C++
• C#
• WCF
• WebAPI
• Strong experience writing portable C++, ideally targeting both Linux and Windows.
• Strong SQL Server 2016/2019 experience, including:
• SQL performance and optimisation
• SQL Reporting Services would be advantageous
• Experience with multi-threaded and parallel development.
• Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) would be advantageous.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, TFS and Git would be advantageous.
• Exposure to SCRUM / Agile methodologies.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, including:
