Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Avionics Systems Engineer to design, integrate, test, and certify advanced avionics for next-generation aircraft in Stellenbosch. You will collaborate across software, hardware, and certification teams to deliver reliable avionics solutions.

The role requires 6+ years in avionics, strong MIL-STD-1553/ARINC knowledge, and a track record in complex system development within a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in avionics systems engineering.
• Design, integration, testing, and certification of avionics components.
• Experience with MIL-STD-1553, ARINC protocols.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Hybrid work setting in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement complex avionics systems and components for aircraft.
• Perform system integration, testing, and validation of avionics hardware and software.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to avionics systems throughout the product lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain system architecture, design documentation, and test procedures.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and certification teams.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., EASA, FAA, SACAA).
• Lead technical reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Contribute to proposal writing and project planning for new avionics development.
• Stay abreast of advancements in avionics technology and trends.
• Support flight testing and evaluation of avionics systems.
