About the Role

Our client, a key organization within the aviation infrastructure sector, is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Aviation Safety Manager to oversee safety initiatives in Soweto, Gauteng, ZA. This critical role involves developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety management systems (SMS) to ensure the highest levels of safety across all operations. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage incident and accident investigations, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of personnel.
• Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization through proactive communication and engagement.
• Monitor safety performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and safety audits.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international aviation safety regulations.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities (e.g., SACAA) on safety matters and audits.
• Manage the safety reporting system and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Provide expert advice on safety-related matters to senior management and operational teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in aviation safety management, with a strong focus on developing and implementing SMS.
• Possession of relevant professional safety certifications (e.g., ISAGO, IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations).
• In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations, safety management principles, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Proven experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis techniques.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a demanding and sensitive environment in Soweto, Gauteng, ZA.
• Proficiency in safety management software and tools.
