About the Role

Our client, a prominent force in automotive innovation, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automotive Test & Validation Engineer to join their advanced engineering team in East London, Eastern Cape . This role is critical for ensuring the performance, durability, and reliability of automotive components and systems through rigorous testing and validation processes. You will be responsible for developing test strategies, executing complex test plans, analyzing results, and providing crucial feedback to design and engineering teams. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in automotive systems, extensive experience in test methodologies, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, validated products. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive test and validation plans for automotive components and systems (e.g., powertrain, chassis, electronics, ADAS).
• Design and oversee the execution of laboratory, bench, and vehicle-level tests.
• Analyze test data using appropriate tools and software, identifying performance trends and potential issues.
• Collaborate with design and engineering teams to define test requirements and interpret results.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose failures, working with engineers to implement solutions.
• Prepare detailed test reports, summaries, and recommendations for product development.
• Ensure test equipment is calibrated and maintained, and that test procedures comply with industry standards.
• Manage external test facilities and service providers as required.
• Stay current with emerging automotive technologies and corresponding testing methodologies.
• Mentor junior test engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of test processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive test and validation engineering.
• Proven expertise in testing methodologies for at least two of the following areas: powertrain, chassis, vehicle dynamics, electronics, ADAS, or NVH.
• Experience with test automation, data acquisition systems, and analysis software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, CANape, DIAdem).
• Strong understanding of automotive systems, components, and their performance characteristics.
• Familiarity with industry testing standards (e.g., ISO, SAE, ECE).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to lead technical discussions.
• Experience working within a hybrid environment in East London.
