Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Automotive Electrical Engineer in Polokwane, Limpopo, ZA, to lead design, development and integration of complex electrical systems for future vehicle architectures.

You will define electrical system strategies, ensure reliability, and mentor junior engineers in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years in automotive electrical system design and development.
• Strong understanding of automotive electrical architectures including CAN, LIN, Ethernet.
• Experience with EMC/EMI testing and principles.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment.
• Experience with ISO 26262 functional safety is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical architectures and schematics for automotive applications.
• Specify wiring harnesses, connectors, sensors, and ECUs.
• Perform electrical system analysis: power distribution, signal integrity, EMC.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems teams for integration.

You will play a key role in defining electrical system strategies, ensuring reliability, and driving technological advancements. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical architectures and schematics for automotive applications.
• Specify electrical components, including wiring harnesses, connectors, sensors, and ECUs.
• Perform electrical system analysis, including power distribution, signal integrity, and EMC.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, systems) to ensure seamless integration of electrical components.

• Knowledge of EMC/EMI principles and testing procedures.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively in a hybrid environment.
• Experience with functional safety (ISO 26262) is a plus.
