Placements24 is seeking a Senior Automotive Electrical Engineer in Pretoria to lead design, integration and testing of complex electrical systems for new vehicle platforms. You will ensure the reliability, performance and safety of automotive electrical architectures and mentor junior engineers.

Collaborating with mechanical, software and manufacturing teams, you will drive innovation, maintain technical documentation, and stay ahead of industry trends to influence future vehicle designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 7+ years in automotive electrical engineering focusing on design and integration.
• Experience with ECUs, sensors, actuators and automotive communication networks.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive electrical system architectures, including power distribution, wiring harnesses, and component integration.
• Oversee the integration of electrical components and systems into vehicle prototypes, ensuring compliance with specifications.
• Perform system-level testing and validation, troubleshooting electrical issues and implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineering, software development, and manufacturing, to ensure seamless system performance.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation , including schematics, specifications, and test reports.
• Stay abreast of emerging electrical technologies and industry trends to drive innovation in vehicle design.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive electrical engineering, with a strong focus on system design and integration.
• In-depth knowledge of automotive electrical systems , including ECUs, sensors, actuators, and communication networks (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
• Proficiency with electrical CAD software (e.g., Mentor Graphics, Altium) and simulation tools.
• Experience with vehicle testing, validation, and problem-solving methodologies.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers.
