Duties & Responsibilities
This role sits within a specialised Regulatory Compliance Services function responsible for conducting complex compliance, regulatory, and IT control-based audits across local and international jurisdictions. The Senior Compliance Auditor leads audit engagements, ensures adherence to approved methodologies, and delivers high-quality regulatory certifications within strict deadlines.
The role requires a balance of technical auditing expertise, strong client engagement skills, and the ability to mentor junior team members while managing multiple audit cycles. The position includes local and international travel, exposure to regulated markets, and the responsibility of ensuring clients meet jurisdictional, accreditation and regulatory obligations. The ideal individual must be detail-driven, highly professional, technically strong, and capable of navigating demanding environments with precision and confidence.
Audit Execution
- Conduct onsite and remote compliance audits, self-regulatory reviews, and regulated market reviews.
- Collect, verify and upload audit evidence in line with ISO standards.
- Draft audit reports, certificates, findings, and follow‑up reviews within predetermined timeframes.
- Develop customised client audit templates and scoped working papers where required.
- Ensure adherence to approved methodologies, templates, regulatory frameworks, and accreditation requirements.
- Perform project management of audit assignments via internal systems (e.g., M‑Files).
Planning & Administration
- Plan and schedule onsite reviews in collaboration with line managers and clients.
- Update travel schedules, complete travel forms, and process monthly expense claims.
- Maintain availability and visibility via required communication platforms during business hours.
- Alert management to issues impacting client deadlines or regulatory requirements.
- Submit leave applications and administrative documentation timeously.
Client Management
- Build and maintain strong client relationships across regulated markets.
- Inform clients of certification processes, timelines and future audit planning.
- Draft client proposals using approved templates and current fee schedules.
- Provide clear explanations of findings, controls, remediation steps and regulatory expectations.
- Ensure clients receive timely updates, responses, and closure of open issues.
Leadership, Mentoring & Teamwork
- Ensure optimal team performance through coaching, training and guidance.
- Assist team members in meeting deadlines and escalating risks where required.
- Attend weekly team catch‑ups to discuss workloads, progress, and upcoming projects.
- Provide feedback on working document quality and propose improvements.
Business & Compliance
- Acquire full understanding of internal quality systems, policies and work instructions.
- Identify opportunities for interdepartmental process improvements.
- Support business retention and growth by professionally representing service offerings.
- Assist with template creation and updates for new regulated market requirements.
- ISO guidelines complied.
Audit Responsibilities (Supplementary)
- Compile, amend and issue ISO / IEC certificates according to internal certification rules.
- Ensure certificate details are updated on relevant platforms (e.g., CMS, accreditation websites).
Plan, Prepare and Execute ISO Audits
- Follow prescribed work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure timely report submissions.
- Team leaders oversee auditors, ensure correct processes are followed, and confirm competence for Stage 2 audits.
Job Experience & Skills Required
- Qualifications: Matric (Grade 12) Science or Commerce Degree (NQF 7) or equivalent qualification (with validated competency).
- Advantageous certifications: CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, COBIT, Cybersecurity (CEH or similar), ISO.
- Auditor‑level credentials: Minimum 3 years auditing experience (Big 4 IT audit exposure advantageous).
- Experience in regulatory compliance, IT controls, or business risk‑based audits.
- Practical knowledge of regulatory frameworks, eGAP requirements and compliance standards.
- Proven ability to manage own audit workload and supervise other audit staff.
- Experience engaging with international clients and working across jurisdictions (advantageous).

- Ability to interpret and apply IT control frameworks and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
