Job Description - Senior Architectural Technologist

Cape Town-based design practice seeking a Senior Architectural Technologist to join the team for its next chapter. The practice delivers bespoke residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects with a focus on design thinking, rigorous detailing, and strong client relationships.

Role Overview

We are offering a full-time Senior Architectural Technologist position, based primarily in our Cape Town studio. This is an in-studio leadership role with potential future hybrid flexibility. You will work closely with the principal and lead architects, taking responsibility for key projects, contributing to strategic decisions, and helping shape the next era of the studio.

This role is ideal for someone with design leadership experience who is seeking a more meaningful and entrepreneurial chapter in their career.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead projects through all phases from concept to close-out
• Direct and coordinate consultants, technical teams, and contractors
• Deliver detailed documentation and technical resolution with precision
• A detailed role profile is available to serious applicants

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 5–10 years of post-qualification experience
• Professionally registered or eligible for registration in South Africa
• Proficiency in ArchiCAD a strong preference or willingness to adopt it fully as primary BIM tool
• Strong technical competence and site experience
• Thorough knowledge of the Cape Town building regulatory processes, SANS and local construction context building practices
• Excellent written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills
• Proven ability to lead projects independently with initiative and ownership
